LINK Advisors
Senior Accountant, LINK Advisors.

Where this figure comes from: This is what LINK actually pays its senior accountants, not an advertised average. The same figure is published on our accounting recruitment page and salary guide.
What this job actually is.
LINK Advisors is the accounting and advisory arm of the LINK group - nine businesses under one roof in Fortitude Valley, covering accounting, bookkeeping, financial advice, lending, property, marketing and recruitment. Clients come to us for the accounting and stay because the rest of the group is down the hall.
This is a public-practice senior role, not a commercial one. You run a portfolio of small and medium business clients end to end: the compliance cycle, the year-end conversations, and the advisory work that comes out of both. You are the person the client rings.
The part that makes this role different from the same title elsewhere is the support underneath it. Every senior here has offshore CPA-qualified support on Xero, Karbon and Fathom, which means preparation is largely done before it reaches you. Your day is review, client contact and judgement - not chasing bank feeds.
The work runs past compliance. Management accounts monthly and quarterly, budgets, forecasts and cashflow, tax planning ahead of year end, and the technical questions the bookkeeping team bring up the hall when a job outgrows them. If you want to be the person clients ring before they make a decision rather than after, that is the job.
Day to day, and what we need.
What you'll do
- Own a portfolio of SMB clients as their primary point of contact
- Prepare and review financial statements, tax returns and BAS for companies, trusts, partnerships, sole traders and SMSFs
- Deliver monthly and quarterly management accounts, and talk clients through what they actually mean
- Provide strategic guidance beyond compliance - budgeting, forecasting and cashflow
- Review the work of intermediate and junior accountants, and give feedback that actually develops them
- Lead year-end and planning conversations, including tax planning and structuring discussions
- Be the technical backstop for the bookkeeping team when a job runs past bookkeeping
- Spot where a client needs another part of the group - lending, wealth, bookkeeping - and make the introduction
- Work with the offshore team daily, setting the brief and reviewing what comes back
What we need
- CA or CPA qualified - or an equivalent international qualification such as ACCA, FCCA or ICAEW
- At least eight years in public practice, including recent Australian experience
- Strong Xero skills - it is the whole stack here
- Comfortable across companies, trusts, partnerships and sole traders
- Confident holding a client relationship without a manager in the room
Nice to have
- Experience reviewing others' work and mentoring accountants below you
- SMSF compliance experience, and Class if you have used it
- NowInfinity, FYI Docs, Karbon or Fathom exposure
- MYOB or QuickBooks alongside Xero, for clients who arrive on them
- Budgeting, forecasting and cashflow work, not just compliance
- Division 7A, trust distributions and small-business CGT in practice, not just in theory
- Experience working with an offshore team
Not a perfect match? Apply anyway. The “nice to have” list is genuinely optional, and we would rather meet someone good than tick every box.
Why this role, at LINK.
You are not the whole answer on your own
Most senior accountants hit a ceiling where the client needs lending, advice or a bookkeeper and there is nothing to offer. Here there are eight other LINK businesses in the same building, and referring in is a normal part of the job rather than a favour.
The support is real, and it is measured
Offshore CPA support on every portfolio, on Xero, Karbon and Fathom. We have measured engagement with Officevibe every fortnight since 2018 - 8.9/10 overall and an eNPS of 67 in 2025. Those are the actual numbers, and they are on our careers page.
The pay is published
$110,000 to $140,000 plus super, and that band comes off our own payroll rather than a job-ad average. We publish it on our salary guide too. You will not have to guess what the range is before you apply.
We do not screen out accountants who qualified overseas
Most Brisbane ads say CA or CPA and stop there, which quietly rules out very good accountants who trained under ACCA, FCCA or ICAEW and have since built years of Australian practice. We count the qualification and the experience, not the postcode it was earned in - and we have hired that way before.
Before you apply.
What does a Senior Accountant earn in Brisbane?
At LINK, $110,000 to $140,000 plus superannuation depending on seniority. That band is drawn from what we actually pay, not from advertised averages, and it sits above our Intermediate Accountant band of $85,000 to $110,000.
Is this public practice or commercial?
Public practice. You hold a portfolio of SMB clients and run their compliance and advisory work. If you are looking at the commercial ladder - financial accountant, management accountant, finance manager - our salary guide covers that track separately.
Do I need to be CA or CPA qualified?
CA or CPA, or an equivalent international qualification. This role carries review responsibility, so we need you qualified rather than mid-way through.
I qualified overseas - ACCA, FCCA or ICAEW. Can I apply?
Yes, and we would encourage it. Some of our strongest accountants qualified outside Australia and converted their experience here. What we need is the qualification plus recent Australian public-practice experience, so you know how local compliance actually runs. We will not screen you out for having trained somewhere else.
Does the role include SMSF work?
Some. Most portfolios carry a few self-managed funds alongside the companies and trusts, and we run Class for them. It is not an SMSF-only role, and if funds are new to you that is learnable here.
Is the role hybrid?
Yes. We are in Fortitude Valley with regular work-from-home days, flexible hours and Finish Early Fridays. It is a genuine hybrid rather than a nominal one.
How does the offshore support actually work?
Each portfolio has CPA-qualified offshore support working in the same Xero, Karbon and Fathom files as you. You set the brief and review what comes back. It is not a separate team you hand things to and hope - you work with them daily.
